Eurovision Song Contest
Working for the Slovenian delegation since: 2017 / Agency: RTV SLO / Task: LED Video Content Director and Art Director for the Slovenian entry
About the project
The Eurovision Song Contest, often simply called Eurovision, is an annual international song competition, with participants representing primarily European countries. Each participating country submits an original song to be performed on live television and radio, then casts votes for the other countries’ songs to determine the winner. At least 50 countries are eligible to compete as of 2018.
Based on the Sanremo Music Festival held in Italy since 1951, Eurovision has been broadcasting every year since its inauguration in 1956, making it the longest-running annual international television contest and one of the world’s longest-running television programs. It is also one of the most watched non-sporting events, with audience figures of between 100 million and 600 million internationally. It has been broadcast in several countries that do not compete, such as the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and China. Since 2000.
My part of the project
I started working for the Slovenian delegation after working for EMA in 2017. I’m always honoured taking part of this adventure. The first time back in the 2017 we created a staging performance for the Slovenian artist Omar Naber. In 2018 we worked with Lea Sirk and the first time Art Directing the whole performance for me was in 2019 for Zalagasper.
Since 2017 we managed despite being a small country, to be noticed and qualified to the grand final two years in a row – and that with songs in native language (Slovenian). An intense 2 weeks experience of working and networking for my birth country. Europe, and Australia, start voting NOW! (for sLOVEnia) ❤.
